Abstract

The rapid development of information technology in the digital era has brought new challenges in protecting trade secrets. Economically valuable business information is now widely stored and distributed digitally, making it increasingly vulnerable to leaks, theft, and misuse, both by internal and external parties. This study aims to analyze the legal protection mechanism for trade secrets in Indonesia in facing the challenges of digitalization. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a literature study approach, reviewing various literature, laws, and previous research results. The results of the study show that legal protection for trade secrets in Indonesia is regulated in Law No. 30 of 2000, but the regulation is not fully adaptive to the development of digital technology. Existing legal protection is still limited to digital data without detailed regulations regarding the mechanisms and enforcement of law in the digital space. It is necessary to strengthen regulations and more adaptive legal protection strategies as well as education for business actors regarding the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of information. Thus, it is hoped that the protection of trade secrets in the digital era can run effectively, maintaining a healthy and competitive business climate in Indonesia.
