Abstract

Daif hadith refers to narrations that fall short of authenticity standards due to problems in the chain of transmission or the content. This study explains the concept of daif hadith, the causes of weakness, how they are classified, and the views of scholars about using them, especially in virtuous deeds (fadhail al-a’mal). The research is based on library sources and uses a descriptive and analytical approach to study both classical and modern literature. The results show that daif hadith can be weak due to a broken chain, unreliable narrators, or hidden problems in the content. Some of them can be raised to hasan li ghairihi if supported by other reliable narrations. Most scholars agree that daif hadith can be used for moral encouragement under certain conditions. This study highlights the importance of understanding daif hadith classification to help Muslims be more careful in practicing their religion.
