The Journal of Islamic Finance and Economics is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. This statement outlines ethical responsibilities for authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher, following the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).


1. Duties of Authors

2. Duties of Editors

  1. Fair and Objective Evaluation

    • Editors evaluate manuscripts based solely on academic merit, without discrimination.

  2. Confidentiality

    • Editors must keep all manuscript information confidential.

  3. Avoidance of Conflict of Interest

    • Editors should recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.

  4. Publication Decisions

    • Editors make decisions based on reviewer reports, journal policies, and academic merit.

  5. Quality Assurance

    • Editors must ensure that unethical behavior such as plagiarism or data falsification is identified and handled appropriately.


3. Duties of Reviewers

  1. Confidentiality

    • Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents.

  2. Objectivity and Professionalism

    • Reviews must be conducted objectively, clearly, and constructively.

  3. Identification of Ethical Issues

    • Reviewers must inform editors of any suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, or ethical concerns.

    • Reviewers should complete reviews within the designated timeframe.

    • Reviewers must decline assignments where conflicts of interest exist.


4. Duties of the Publisher

  1. Editorial Independence

    • The publisher supports editorial decisions and ensures that commercial interests do not influence editorial integrity.

  2. Ethical Oversight

    • The publisher works with editors to maintain academic and ethical standards.

  3. Archiving and Access

    • The publisher ensures the digital preservation and open access availability of all published articles.


5. Handling of Unethical Behavior

  1. Reporting Violations

    • Unethical behavior may be reported by authors, reviewers, editors, readers, or institutions.

  2. Investigation Process

    • All reports will be investigated according to COPE procedures.

  3. Consequences
    Depending on severity, actions may include:

    • Rejection of manuscript

    • Retraction of published article

    • Notification to the authors’ institution

    • Banning authors from submission for a defined period
