Abstract

UMKM or also called Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives are very important in their role to strengthen the economy in Indonesia. However, all will not go well if human resources, funding needs and limited access to financing greatly affect its development. LKMS or also called Islamic Microfinance Institutions is one of the alternatives chosen to overcome the problem of financing. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of LKMS in empowering and cooperatives and identifying strategies for optimizing this role. This research method uses qualitative literature descriptions, data collection via the internet and websites about related journals. Increasing the role of Islamic Microfinance Institutions (LKMS) in empowering UMKM and Islamic cooperatives is an important strategy to strengthen the people's economy based on Islamic principles. LKMS not only plays a role as a provider of sharia-based financing, but is also active in encouraging the development of business capacity through training programs, mentoring, providing access to capital, managing business management, and utilizing technology. Through this approach, MSMEs and Islamic cooperatives can grow sustainably, expand marketing networks, and create a fairer and more competitive people's economy. Adequate regulatory support further strengthens the position of LKMS as the main foundation in realizing sharia-based economic welfare at the community level.
