Abstract

Philanthropy is an important aspect of waqf and zakat practices in Indonesia. The laws governing waqf and zakat have significant implications for the development and management of philanthropic activities in society. This research aims to examine how waqf laws and zakat laws influence philanthropic practices in Indonesia. The research method used is a qualitative approach, combining literature study, document analysis, in-depth interviews, participant observation and comparative analysis. Data was collected through a review of legislation, academic literature and official government documents. The research results show that the waqf law and zakat law have provided a legal and regulatory framework that influences philanthropic practices in Indonesia. This law regulates aspects such as the management, distribution and supervision of waqf and zakat funds, which have an impact on the formation of philanthropic institutions, fundraising patterns and distribution of aid to the community. However, there are several challenges in implementing the law, such as coordination between institutions, transparency and accountability, which need to be considered to optimize the role of philanthropy in social development. This research provides theoretical and practical contributions in understanding the dynamics of philanthropy in Indonesia, especially in the context of waqf law and zakat law. Research findings can provide input for the development of philanthropic policies and practices that are more effective and aligned with the objectives of the law.
