This study investigates the role played by philanthropic institutions and non-profit organizations in promoting sustainable development in the health sector. The methodology used is a literature study, which involves analysis of various relevant sources. The main findings of this study show that philanthropic institutions play an important role in driving innovation, community empowerment, and collaborative development in the health sector. Through innovative funding, such as that of the Gates Foundation in vaccine development, and support for community empowerment programs, such as that of the Rockefeller Foundation, these institutions have contributed significantly to advances in public health. In addition, collaboration with government and the private sector, such as that carried out by the Clinton Health Access Initiative, also has a lasting impact in improving access and quality of health services. These findings highlight the important role of philanthropic institutions and non-profit organizations in achieving sustainable development goals in the health sector.
