This study aims to analyze the improvement of work competence for production operators through
internship programs at PT. Seyang Activewear Cirebon. Internship programs serve as a crucial strategy
to integrate education and industry, particularly for vocational students who are required to possess both
technical and non-technical skills in accordance with labor market demands. The main problem
addressed in this research is how internships contribute to enhancing participants' work competence and
to what extent practical experience in the field strengthens their job readiness. This study employs a
descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with interns, field
supervisors, and the company’s Human Resource Development (HRD), complemented by direct
observation of production activities. The results indicate that internships at PT. Seyang Activewear
Cirebon positively impact participants’ work competence, particularly in technical skills such as
machine operation, work efficiency, and understanding production procedures, as well as in non
technical skills including discipline, responsibility, communication, and teamwork. These findings are
consistent with Kolb’s experiential learning theory and Becker’s human capital concept, which
emphasize the importance of direct experience in developing individual skills and productivity.
Compared to previous studies, the results confirm that industrial internships are effective as a contextual
learning medium and an investment in human resource development. Therefore, internship programs
can be considered a model of vocational education aimed at improving work competence and preparing
students for entry into the industrial workforce. This study aims to analyze the improvement of work
competencies of production operators through internships at PT Seyang Activewear Cirebon from a
sharia economic perspective. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, using observation,
interviews, and documentation techniques. The results indicate that internships play a significant role in
developing work competencies, including technical skills, discipline, responsibility, and
professionalism. From a sharia economic perspective, these competency improvements align with the
values of amanah (trustworthiness), ihsan (goodness), and istiqamah (consistency), which are the
foundation of the Islamic work ethic. Therefore, internships can be a means of implementing sharia
economic values in a modern industrial environment
