Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of the younger generation in the development of the Islamic economy in Indonesia during the digital era. As the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, Indonesia holds great potential to build an inclusive and sustainable Islamic economic ecosystem. Digital transformation has opened new opportunities for the youth to actively engage in various Islamic economic sectors such as fintech, digital zakat, halal e-commerce, and Sharia-based investments. The younger generation is not only the main user of digital technology but also innovators who bring creative solutions aligned with Islamic economic principles. This study employs a literature review method by examining scientific literature, official reports, and relevant previous research. The findings indicate that the participation of the youth in the development of the Islamic economy is highly significant, both as entrepreneurs, educators, and drivers of Sharia financial literacy. Nevertheless, challenges remain, such as limited understanding of Sharia principles, access to financing, and the need for more adaptive policies. The study concludes that strengthening the capacity of the younger generation and cross-sector support are crucial to maximize their potential in driving a just and sustainable digitally-based Islamic economic growth.
