Abstract

The development of information technology (IT) has brought significant transformation in various sectors, including Islamic business. This study aims to examine in depth the opportunities and challenges that arise in implementing information technology in business practices based on Sharia principles. The approach used in this paper is descriptive qualitative with the literature study method as the main basis for collecting and analyzing information. The results of the study show that the opportunities for IT implementation in sharia business are very broad, including operational efficiency, expanding market access, increasing transaction transparency, and strengthening the integrity of the Islamic financial system. On the other hand, the challenges faced are no less complex, including limited digital infrastructure in some areas, lack of human resources who understand both technology and Sharia principles, and potential clashes between digital innovations and the provisions of Islamic law. In addition, regulations that are not fully adaptive to technological developments are also an obstacle. Nevertheless, the application of IT in Sharia business has great potential to support the growth of the Islamic economy globally as long as it is accompanied by strategic planning, strengthening Sharia digital literacy, and collaboration between stakeholders. By understanding and managing these opportunities and challenges, Islamic businesses can integrate information technology optimally.
